
Post Leaving Certificate Fees information 2011-12
If you are pursuing a Post Leaving Certificate Course at Level 5 or 6 in Scoil Ruáin there are no tuition fees for EU nationals.
However, there are student services charges, exam fees and a separate PLC Contributions Fee.
FEES
The breakdown of fees is as follows:
Student Services Charge & Materials Fee € 70
PLC Contributions Fee (Government Fee) €200
FETAC Exam Fee € 50
Total €320
NOTES
1. The Student Services Charge covers most course materials
2. The PLC Contribution FEE is a government charge introduced in the 2010
Budget and is payable for ALL PLC courses.
3. The FETAC exam fee of €50 must be paid by all students.
EXEMPTIONS
Students who are entitled to VTOS/BTEA/Medical Card/Grant are exempt from the €200 PLC Contributions fee
Medical Card holders only are exempt from paying the €50 FETAC exam fee.
ALL PLC Students must pay the €70 Student Services Charge.
PAYMENT SCHEDULE
Upon registration in early September you will be required to pay €270 (which includes the PLC Contribution Fee).
The deadline for payment of this fee is Friday 9th of September 2011. The final €50 for FETAC exam fees must
be paid by Friday 13th of January 2011.
FETAC LEVEL 5 COMPUTER / SECRETARIAL
On successful completion of this course, participants are qualified to work as a receptionist or in the secretarial industry.
This course comprises of the following modules:
Information and Administration (B20144)
This module covers areas such as the Working Environment which involves the different aspects of organisations, Information Processing which describes all the activities conducted within an organisation, Work Planning provides the learner with theory on daily tasks involved in organisations and Telecommunications which gives the learner the opportunity to experience the different communication methods within a business.
Computer Applications (B10009)
This module covers three main computer packages which are involved in the daily administration of a business. These are Database, Spreadsheet and Publisher
Audio Transcripts (B20147)
After completing this module the learner will have the ability to dictate letters, agendas, articles etc into the correct format required for business. This module also covers grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Work Experience (W20008)
Learners will participate in two weeks work experience in a vocational area relevant to the course. The module also covers the preparation for the working world through completing CV, Interviews and Job preparation.
Book Keeping- Manual and Computerised (B20137)
This module is designed as an introduction to bookkeeping principles, manual bookkeeping practice and will also provide the learner with the skills necessary to operate a computerised accounting syste.
Payroll – Manual and Computerised (B20138)
This module provides the learner with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain payroll records for small and mid-sized organisations both manually and with the aid of a computer system.
Communications (G20001)
This module provides the learner with the skills of presenting information in many different forms, oral, tape or written. It also develops the learners skills and abilities to conduct interviews and meetings properly.
Text Production (B20141)
This module will help you understand the importance of good text production techniques. You will acquire a thorough working knowledge of an input device and develop the skills necessary to display documents attractively. It also provides learners with the skills to improve their typing techniques.
Word Processing (B20032)
This module is designed to provide learners with an understanding of general computerised documents such as mail merge, production of tables and other word processing features.
Business Calculations (B20034)
The aim of the business calculation module is to help students understand the principles of basic calculations as applied to personal and business life. Students will learn how to estimate with reasonable accuracy costs and measurements and develop self confidence in handling numerical data. Also this course covers how to handle efficiently the money calculations in common daily transactions and how to appreciate the importance of accuracy and neatness in presentation.
Course Hours
9.15am to 1.20pm, Monday to Friday from September to May.
Fees
A fee of €120 applies to all students who are not eligible for VTOS. This covers the cost of examination fees, books and class materials.
