Scoil RuainComputer Room

Scoil Ruáin has a state of the art computer room with modern computers, networked and connected to the Internet. Students are given opportunities to attain the ECDL qualification. Leaving Certificate students may take computers as a section of their Mathematics course for which they receive certification from the Department of Education and Science.

Scoil Ruáin has two modern Science Laboratories, and one large Science Demonstration room. All of these rooms are well stocked with the most up to date equipment, enabling all aspects of the Junior and Leaving Certificate Science courses, to be presented in the best possible manner. The Physics/Chemistry lab has access to the latest data logging equipment, which enables students to spend more time on analysis of information rather than on its collection. All science labs have also access to computer facilities, which add to the scientific experience in the school.

 Practical Rooms

Scoil Ruáin is very well equipped in the practical area with two Woodwork rooms, one Drawing room, one Metalwork room, two Science laboratories, an Home Economics room, one large Computer room, one Science Demonstration room, one Library and one large Art room.

 Computer Aided Design

Scoil Ruáin has developed a Computer Graphics and CAD modelling room. This room is stocked with top of the range computers using a computer program called ‘Solid Works’. Students taking Leaving Certificate Architectural Technology will submit 40% of their work for assessment using Solid Works.

 Sport Facilities

Participation in sporting activities is well catered for with a full size GAA pitch and two outdoor basketball courts. Students also have access to the indoor hall in Munroe and the swimming pool in Clonmel. In November 2006 our facilities were further improved with the opening of the new Astroturf playing pitches. The Astroturf is available to our students up to 6pm each day.

 

 


 

Scoil Ruain

Building will commence on the long awaited sports hall in May 2011. This sports facility consists of 4 badminton courts/international size basketball court and is suitable for all indoor sports. It is envisaged that the balcony area will be developed to include a fully equipped gym/weights room. This development will greatly enhance the provision of sport and physical education for the students of Scoil Ruain.

 

 


 
Canteen

Students can order healthy rolls/sandwiches for lunch with juice, tea or coffee. Breakfast is provided free of charge to students each morning and those availing of evening study are also provided with a snack before they begin.

 


 
Library

Scoil Ruáin boasts a well-stocked library with books suitable for all levels. The reference section is very broad and used throughout the week by students, especially those doing projects.
